I had Mechagon unlocked, I did a Faction Change, and now I cannot go back. In order to go to Mechagon Island you must complete the full introductory quest line. This quest line requirest hat you have first unlocked Nazjatar. Please check this Wowhead guide for details. If you change factions, you must complete the introductory quest line again.Both mechagon and 8.3 questline is locked behind Nazjatar intro quests.
